Eligibility
One bracket (contest entry) is allowed per person and per household. You are not allowed to signup using multiple Login IDs and you are not allowed to submit more than one bracket. Participants submitting multiple brackets will be disqualified. SportsFan.com employees may participate in the contest but are not eligible to win a prize. We reserve the right to stop accepting new participants at any time prior to the announced deadline. We reserve the right to modify your screen name if it is determined by us to be offensive.
Prizes
The Grand Prize is an iPod touch 64G (model MC011LL/A) and will be given to the contest winner according to the scoring system and tie-breaker specified below. Should more than one bracket (contest entry) remain tied after all tie-breakers have been used, then a random drawing will be used to select the prize winner. The Grand Prize will only be shipped to the name and postal code that was provided when you signed up for the contest. Your name and/or postal code cannot be changed after the contest deadline so be sure to provide correct information when signing up. The grand prize winner has 3 weeks from the end of the contest to provide their full shipping address and claim the prize. Second and third place winners will receive gift certficates to the SportsFan.com shop at http://shop.sportsfan.com. Should more than one entry be tied for 2nd and/or 3rd, then a random drawing will be used to select the prize winner. There will be one 2nd place and one 3rd place prize awarded. The gift certificate will be sent to the email address entered when you signed up for the contest. Your email address cannot be changed after the contest deadline so be sure to provide a correct email address when signing up. About the Contest This contest is based on the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. You will pick the winner for each game on the entire bracket. Points are scored according to the rules explained below. At the end of the tournament, the person with the most points wins the contest. One Bracket Limit Each person is limited to one entry bracket. Submitting multiple brackets using multiple Login IDs is not allowed and may result in all of your brackets being disqualified. Bracket Deadlines Brackets can be added, edited and deleted up until the bracket deadline on Thursday, March 18th at 12:00 PM ET. Bracket Confirmation You must click the Save button after filling out the online entry bracket and then wait for confirmation that your bracket has been submitted (you will see the Confirmed Bracket message). It is your responsibility to ensure that your bracket is confirmed and correct. You will only see the Confirmed Bracket message immediately after saving your bracket. If you are unsure whether a bracket has been submitted, click the My Brackets link in the menu or click here to see a list of your brackets. Play-in Game Officially called the "Opening Round", the Play-in game is a preliminary game that takes place two days before the tournament first round. The Play-in game is not picked as part of the contest. Scoring | CONTEST POINTS SCORED BY ROUND | | 1st Round | 1 point for each correct pick Plus for each correct pick where the seed number of the winning team is numerically greater than or equal to the seed number of the losing team, e.g. an "upset" (regardless of the matchup predicted on your bracket), 1 point | | 2nd Round | 2 points for each correct pick | | 3rd Round | 4 points for each correct pick | | 4th Round | 6 points for each correct pick | | 5th Round | 9 points for each correct pick | | 6th Round | 12 points for correct pick |
Bonus Points The following bonus points are awarded in addition to other points scored in the contest: · 4 points for correctly picking all four #8 vs. #9 games Tie-breaker If the tournament ends with two or more entries tied with the same score, ties will be broken in the following order until a winner is determined. If one or more entries remain tied after applying the tie-breaker then the winner will be determined by a random drawing between the entries that remain tied. - Pick the total score of both teams combined in the National Championship game. You will make your tie-break pick as part of the entry submission. Closest to the actual total score wins the tie-breaker.
- The entry with the most correct Final Four picks will win the tie-breaker.
- The entry bracket with the highest total of all of it's picks seeds will win the tie-breaker.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES & DISCLAIMER Special Circumstances Technical problems Due to the nature of the internet, the contest website may not be available at all times. It may be especially difficult to connect to the website as the deadline nears due to high traffic volume. Therefore, you are encouraged to complete your bracket as early as possible (remember, you can modify the bracket as many times you want until the deadline.) The contest commissioner is not responsible for website malfunction.
